1. Chanel No. 5
Worldly, sophisticated, sexy…
In 1921, Coco Chanel wanted “a woman’s fragrance that smells like woman.” When perfume designer Ernest Beaux presented her with his fifth composition, the choice seemed simple and obvious: her perfume would be called N°5. It is an aldehydic floral, a bouquet of abstract flowers with an indefinable femininity. N°5 starts with notes of ylang-ylang and neroli, then unfolds with Grasse jasmine and May rose. Sandalwood and vanilla round out the composition with unforgettable woody notes. The first Chanel N°5 perfume was captured in a simple rectangular bottle with the top which resembled Place Vendome in Paris. In 1959, the packaging secured a place for the scent in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

2. Gucci by Gucci
The woody floral and musky trail of Gucci by Gucci is unmistakably modern, youthfully alluring, and downright pretty. Smell the fruity accents on top (guava and pear) and you’re transported into a nightclub with music blasting out of the speakers and cocktails being served, the tiare flower evoking lithe bodies swaying to the rhythm of the song. Yet catch a whiff of the unsettling note of honeyed patchouli underneath to see that there is a whole other game too, one which speaks of intimacy and the prelude to something deeper. The hip horse bit buckle is the finishing touch on this characteristically Gucci accessory.

A modern iris perfume…Introduced in 2007, Prada Infusion D’Iris by Prada perfume is a contemporary scent that reinforces Prada’s connection with the artisan traditions of classic perfumery. Full of high-quality natural ingredients, Infusion D’Iris is clean, fresh, and light — and at the same time sophisticated and elegant. The name “Infusion D’Iris” is inspired by the ancient and revered six-month-long infusion process used to draw soft, fresh notes from the root of the iris plant. The fragrance opens with notes of mandarin, galbanum, orange and orange blossom, which lead to the heart composed of iris, cedar, and vetiver. It is captured in an elegant glass vessel reminiscent of retro perfume bottles.

Euphoria by Calvin Klein
Euphoria Perfume for Women by Calvin Klein
8. Euphoria  by Calvin Klein
Provocative, sexy, sophisticated…
Sultry, unblushingly feminine and highly suggestive, this strobe-light of a fruity gourmand (a family that reprises scents evoking culinary delights) packs a punch and creates a memorable impression; an euphoric one, like its name. What Calvin Klein’s Euphoria lacks in restraint however it makes up for in passionate sexiness and self-confidence. The fruity top with succulent pomegranate, persimmon and green touches is but the overture to a heart of narcotic flowers (champaca, lotus blossom, black orchid) which are foiled into notes of nectarous amber, creamy violet sweets, patchouli and woods. Good enough to drink!

Top Note: Pomegranate, Kaki, Green Notes

Middle Note: Lotus Blossom, Champaca, Black Orchid
Base Note: Black Violet, Liquid Amber, Unctuous Notes, Mahogany, Musks

Tresor by Lancome
Tresor Perfume for Women by Lancome

Elegant, refined, contemporary…
Unabashedly lush and feminine like its original face, model and actress Isabella Rosellini, Tresor by Lancome has celebrated 20 years on the market already since its introduction in 1990. An exceptionally recognizable and generous fragrance, Tresor melds the most feminine notes in all of perfumery in its memorable wake: the beauty of rose, the clean elegance of muguet (lily of the valley), the tender touch of apricot blossom and peach, all sprinkled with notes of lilac, sandalwood, musk and vanilla accounting for a prolonged, unforgettable experience. Its perfumer, the legendary Sophia Grojsman, described it as a “hug me” fragrance and who could resist its charms under a full moon or worn with a curve-hugging cashmere dress? The striking upside-down pyramid-shaped bottle houses a peachy, amber-colored jus complimented by a square black cap fitting in the cusp of your hand like an extension of your feminine prowess. Like its name suggests, a treasure!

Both fragrances are meant to inspire women who are “a rose on the outside and a rocker on the inside” although this couture version is a little more rose and a little less rocker, with more romance and less edge.
